Interpreter Code of Ethics

Our interpreters shall limit themselves to interpreting. While acting as an interpreter, they must comply with Cultural Dynamics Specialists’ Code of Conduct. They must refrain from giving advice, taking sides, becoming personally involved or offer their services outside the realm of their duties.

CONFIDENTIALITY

The Interpreter shall respect all information received during the assignment and must remain strictly confidential. This information must not be communicated or propagated in any form other than at the time of the rendition.

ACCURACY & COMPLETENESS

“The Interpreter shall render, to the best of his/her ability, a complete and accurate interpretation without altering or omitting anything that is stated. Interpreter shall not add to what is said nor provide unsolicited explanation”.

IMPARTIALITY

The Interpreter shall be impartial and unbiased. He/she must refrain from offering extra information, making recommendations, omitting details or allow his/her personal bias, values and prejudices to get in the way of rendering a professional and impartial interpretation.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST

“The Interpreter shall disclose any real or perceived conflict of interest. He/she shall not take personal advantage, financial or otherwise, of information obtained in the course of his/her work”.

PROFESSIONAL COURTESY

Interpreter shall provide courteous and excellent customer service and maintain a professional performance with proper tone of voice according to the circumstances.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Interpreter shall maintain and enhance his/her competence level by attending professional training, conferences, workshops and by keeping informed of the field practice rules and regulations related to his/her profession.
